Curriculum Mapping is a process for collecting authentic data on a monthly basis about who teaches what and when so that we can make critical decisions about the essential elements of our instruction. The goal of curriculum mapping is to improve instruction to promote higher student achievement. Stillwater Public School teachers worked together to create the mathematics curriculum maps, not based on a specific textbook or resource, but using developmentally appropriate knowledge about the students in a grade level. Curriculum maps are fluid documents, meaning that modifications and improvements are being made throughout the academic year. The maps published here may change as grade level and content teachers refine their instructional methods during the school year. Additional content curriculum maps will be published here as they are completed by teachers.
As we begin the new semester of this school year, we also look ahead to the 2010-2011 school year. A committee of teachers, support staff, administrators, parents, and community members have developed a school calendar which was approved by the Stillwater Board of Education at a recent meeting. The calendar has some new ideas for our district for the next school year. Please review the calendar and accompanying letter for details of the 2010-2011 school year. More information will be shared with you throughout this semester as we plan for the future of our outstanding district. Thank you for your commitment to Stillwater Public Schools! We appreciate your support of quality public education in our community, and look forward to collaborating with you to make our schools the best in the state!

Welcome to Stillwater Public Schools!
The federal legislation, No Child Left Behind (NCLB), requires our students to meet certain benchmarks, or achievement levels, each year. All 3rd-high school students who took the tests last spring received their individual results this fall. The individual reports are compiled into site and district reports. It is exciting to note that when the Oklahoma State Department of Education released the final test scores this past fall, Stillwater Public Schools met all of the federal benchmarks-both as a district and at every school site. This is a huge achievement and our students and staff are to be commended for their hard work last year.
Oklahoma uses the Academic Performance Index (API) for school and district accountability. There are seven indicators used to compute our API:
Our schools and the district exceeded all of the state API benchmarks. The district’s results are listed below (updated 10/8/09):
State Target
SPS API
Math API-932
Math API-1413
Reading API-914
Reading API-1437
Graduation rate-67.8%
Graduation rate-79.8%
Attendance rate-91.2%
Attendance rate-94.7%
Our district API is 1388, on a scale of 0 to 1500. Our individual schools’ API scores range from 1253 to 1452. My goal is to see our schools reach the perfect API of 1500 which is very achievable due to our excellent students and staff. Is this a lofty goal? Yes! Can we do it? Yes!
As you can see from the chart, our students are doing well. We are very proud of the accomplishments of our students and staff, but we will not stop here. Working together, we will continue to improve. Make it an awesome year!
